capitata is called Iya Giboshi in Japan, a reference to its being found in Iya Prefecture. It is also found in Korea, and there is debate as to where it originated. The species in some forms so closely resembles nakaiana that there is a possibility that it may someday be combined into it. It is generally known for early bloom and closely-packed ball-shaped inflorescences. |
