Starting Hosta Seed in a Greenhouse
by Bob Axmear
Hello
I took some hosta seed to a commercial greenhouse yesterday, 1-12-2007, eventually enough for 25+ flats. The person there was going to sow them and place them in a heat chamber to germinate. I will update this page soon with a report and photos. Then one can compare growing seed inside, outside in the spring, or in a greenhouse.

I took more seed to the greenhouse today and a couple of pots of seed I already had growing. Otherwise not much to report yet. Shouldn't be long though until they start coming up.

I brought all the flats home this week, the person who was taking care of them let them dry out at first when they were germinating and then over watered them and they started damping off. Still this would probably be the nicest and easiest way to grow seed if done right.
Bye
Bob
